Louis XIV Cannon Model
The Louis XIV Cannon was a consummate weapon of war developed in the 18th Century and used through the Revolutionary War. This well-constructed model harnesses the age-old power of the King’s artillery in miniature at 11 x 5.5 x 3 inches. Handmade from metal, with the appearance of blackened iron on the barrel and the rim of the wheels, its detail is fine and accurate to the original. History
Louis XIV, known for posterity as the Sun King and the Great Monarch, was the greatest king France would ever have. He was a political and military genius who led France to victory through the Dutch War, the War of the Grand Alliance, and the War of the Spanish Succession. Under his long reign, the French artillery flourished and enjoyed supreme power. Unlike the King’s cannons however, which were inscribed with the words “ultima ratio regum” or “the final argument of kings”, this model cannon is for decorative use only.
